Community Advocacy

Written Submissions.

As community advocates for better transport networks we closely follow local, regional and national consultations and make sure we have our say. Our priorities are firstly, ensuring that all future policy recognises the need for climate sensitive transport options – and secondly that transport networks provide equitable, safe, affordable and efficient solutions for all members of the community. The scope of the change we’re facing is enormous and so we ensure that Lightfoot is contributing to cross-sector consultations as well as those focused on transport.

In June 2021 we commented on the proposed changes to National Speed Limits from Waka Kotahi. This will soon be followed with feedback to QLDC on the Speed Limits in School Zones consultation.

Also in June 2021 The Ministry of Transport released a significant document that outlines the intended programme to transition New Zealand to a net zero national transport network. Read our statements to the MoT and their summary documents of the plan. We’re impressed by the complexity of the plan but believe that to meet the intended reduction by 2050, the proposed policy mandate is sound.
