Touch Travel Tribe: Active Travel to Touch Rugby

The Touch Travel Tribe challenge encourages families to embrace active travel—walking, biking, busing, or carpooling—while getting to touch rugby at the Queenstown Events Centre.

In Term 4 of 2024, families learned about the challenge through schools and social media. To participate, they simply posted photos of their active travel moments on Lightfoot’s Facebook page.

Each week, we celebrated specific travel modes, like biking, with giveaways, including the ever-popular ice creams—something the kids absolutely loved!

Our Gallery of Winners!

The Touch Travel Tribe demonstrates Lightfoot’s vision of inspiring Kiwis to adopt sustainable, active transport habits and build connected communities.

By turning the everyday school and sports commute into an opportunity for active travel, we’re helping families create new habits that are better for our health, wallets, and the planet.

Prizes and Giveaways!

Thanks to awesome support from local sponsors, including Joe’s Garage, The Crown, The Warehouse, and Z Fuel, we were able to inspire more families to ditch the car.

The result? More kids biking and busing to Touch, fewer cars at the fields, and meaningful face-to-face interactions with the community.
